USA E-2 (Employment Second Preference)

The United States offers E-2 (Employment Second Preference) non-immigrant visa to investors/entrepreneurs, allowing them to live and work in the United States by investing a substantial amount of their net worth in an existing business or in new business developments.


Investment Requirement:
  • Investor must be national of one of the treaty country (i.e. Pakistan is a treaty country) in order to be admitted to the United States.
  • The US Government does not specify a minimum amount for investment, however, the investment amount must be substantial i.e. the investment amount must be proportionate to the nature of business proposed.
  • Investor must own at least 50% of the enterprise or possess authority over operations through senior managerial position.
Benefits:
  • Establish, direct & operate the proposed business in the United States.
  • Spouse of E-2 investor shall be granted E-2 dependent visa through which he/she may obtain temporary work permit or employment authorization document (EAD).
  • Children under 21 years of age shall also be granted E-2 dependent visa allowing them to attend school of their choice in the United States.

Visa Validity:
  • E-2 visa holders shall be allowed a maximum of two years stay in the United States initially.
  • E-2 visa holders may request for extension in visa and obtain increment of up to two years. (There is no maximum limit for the number of extensions).

  • Children below the age of 21 years
